Confidence and self-esteem are two different things. Many people confuse the two and do not know which one is more important. Actually, when it comes to a person’s self-image, the confidence level trumps the self-esteem every time. Research has shown that when an individual is asked if they have a positive or negative image of themselves, they will vote with their eyes. Therefore, self-confidence is much more important than self-esteem when it comes to a person’s overall self-image.

While self-esteem can help a person gain the confidence necessary in order to succeed, confidence will always be more important. Without confidence, a person is really not very likely to excel at anything. On the other hand, with low self-esteem, a person is not going to know what they are doing in life. Another example would be the opposite situation. If you lack confidence, you are not going to do as well at your job as somebody who is extremely confident and positive. This is the reason that the best thing you can do for yourself is to work on building your self-esteem. Confidence is earned. It can be built, but it has to come from within. To improve your self-image and confidence level, you must take steps to change the way that you think and how you act.

The things that you think about yourself and how you act will directly affect your image.
