Self-Esteem Vs Ego – A Comparison of the Two

When it comes to issues like confidence, motivation, and even happiness, the battle between self-esteem and ego can be a tough one. When we are talking about your self-esteem, what you think of yourself is usually referred to as your “ego.” That’s right – your “ego.” Now, when it comes to the topic of building self-esteem, the word “ego” isn’t used nearly enough! It is truly one of the cornerstones of self-improvement.

Ego comes from the Greek root word meaning “self.” So, it is really just an extension of our real self, which consists of our attitudes, beliefs, values, and so on. So, having confidence, motivation, and happiness in yourself comes directly from having these things, and nothing less!

The question then becomes, how to get rid of self-doubt, self-confidence, and even self-pity? How do you get self-esteem vs. ego? It starts with changing your mindset! You see, if you are looking at improving your self-esteem by changing your attitude, positive thinking, or whatever…your ego simply won’t allow it.

Why? Because, it will only make you feel good when you succeed, but you will never be truly successful unless you feel good about yourself! And, that’s where negative thinking and poor self-confidence came into play. If you think negative things about yourself, and/or your capabilities; then you will never achieve true confidence, motivation, or overall happiness. Rather, you will always experience constant discouragement, sadness, and even failure at times.

However, this doesn’t have to be the case. You can change your ego’s view of yourself so that you are not only confident but also fully capable of achieving incredible success! This is possible and this is done everyday! Here’s how it works.

First, you must change your way of thinking. Once you develop a positive, realistic, and strong belief in your own abilities and talents; this is what will begin the process of making you a truly happy and confident person. As you continue this process with your positive thinking and new-found confidence you will soon notice a great change in your emotions. When this happens you will begin to see changes in your body language, and even your behavior!

The reason why this makes you feel better and confident is because you now view yourself as capable of achieving great things. In order to maintain this new, positive image you need to work hard on changing the way you talk, act, and look at yourself. It is important that you never forget who you really are inside. To achieve this you must take action and be willing to make the necessary changes in your thought processes and self-talk.

In conclusion, when you are trying to determine if you are going to build your self-esteem or ego, it doesn’t matter. Both options have benefits for you. Ego might help you get more success and feel more confident. Self-esteem will allow you to feel like the center of the world. You are the only one who can decide which option fits you best, it all depends on which way you think and how you feel. Take action today, and start working towards the success you want to experience!

I know what you are thinking… Ego can make you feel better about yourself, therefore it would be better to have too much of it! This couldn’t be further from the truth. The more ego you have, the more action you will take (and take action! ), and the more successful you will become. No one can stop you from having too much of the good stuff, so embrace the ego while you can!

On the other hand, if you have a low self-esteem and high confidence then you are likely to have very little confidence. This will prevent you from achieving success. Let go of the “I can do nothing” mentality. If it’s not broken then fix it! If it’s damaged then repair it!

Now that we have covered the basics it’s time to make some decisions. Do you want to be successful or achieve success? Ego or self-esteem. It’s up to you. I wish you happiness in all of your future endeavors! Go out there and enjoy your life!
