Self Limiting Beliefs – Why You Might Be Holding Yourself Back

Overcoming Self Limiting Beliefs can be a challenge but it is important to do so for many reasons. Some self-limiting beliefs are: “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not pretty or thin enough.” “I’m too young or too old.” “I don’t know enough or smart enough.” And the list goes on. These statements tend to prevent you from experiencing success in anything you try.

Changing your self limiting beliefs starts with recognizing that you have them and accepting the fact that they are a product of the subconscious mind and that these beliefs are not serving you. You then need to discover the reason you hold these beliefs. If it is due to something in your parents or in your environment then you will want to work on those areas. If it is because you believe you are not talented or you think that you aren’t smart enough then you will want to examine why you hold this belief. Once you find out what is holding you back, you can work to change it.

One of the most effective ways to get rid of self-limiting beliefs is to keep us motivated and keep us focused on our goals. If we don’t keep ourselves motivated and on track we will soon be where Oprah and Tom Cruise are – obsessed with their careers yet totally unaware of who they are or what they have to offer. If we don’t focus on our goals, we will give into our fears and start making excuses for not taking action.

One of the best ways to keep ourselves motivated is to challenge our self-limiting beliefs. When we challenge them we create a sense of accountability. When you feel accountable to yourself for making the change you want to make then you will be much more likely to follow through with it. The biggest fear that keeps many people from taking action is the fear of failure. If you consistently challenge yourself for making progress then you will be much more likely to actually make a difference in your life.

Another way to keep yourself motivated is to figure out how much money you will have to work with in order to achieve the things that you want in life. For example, if you are wanting to be rich enough to pay off all your debts, then you should figure out how much money you will have during the course of your lifetime. Once you have figured out your financial foundation, you will be much more likely to take action. Even if you know that you will not be able to attain the things you want, it does not matter because as long as you are taking action in spite of your limitations you are being true to yourself. For example, many of the self-employed, or people who earn just enough money to support themselves have often found themselves doing the things that they really wanted to do.

If you feel like there is something missing in your life and you are struggling to make ends meet, then you might want to consider changing these self-limiting beliefs. Just changing them a little can go a long way in helping you achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. You should take some time and really consider what it is that is stopping you from reaching the things that you want to achieve in life. When you do this you will be able to apply the methods that are necessary to overcome the problems that you have seen.
