Self-limiting beliefs are like self-sabotage. If you have a belief that something can’t be done then it will be done by some other means. For example: A person believes that they can not become a lawyer because they are not good enough. When they attempt to become a lawyer they fail and now their belief is that they can not become lawyers.
What’s so ironic is that in life we have little opportunities to failure and even less to success. Why? Well, all of us have self-limiting beliefs. We are limited by what we think we are capable of or what we believe we cannot do. We also hold beliefs about our worth. If we feel bad about ourselves, we will do whatever it takes to make us feel better.
This is self-sabotaging. If we truly want to succeed we must change our beliefs about ourselves, our capabilities, and our worth. Only then will we be able to take on anything.
It is important to realize that this does not have to be difficult. All that is required is that we change the way we think and the way we respond to any negative self sabotaging behaviors. It is not hard to change your self-sabotaging behaviors. The following are examples of self-sabotaging behaviors and beliefs.
First, you must develop a negative self belief that you are unable to accomplish a goal. You must convince yourself that no one can stop you from getting what you want out of life. Even if that someone is right. Your beliefs must be strong enough to overcome your uncertainty and doubt. If you don’t like taking risks, you should ask yourself why you would voluntarily put yourself into such a position.
Second, you must convince yourself that you are never going to experience failure to achieve your goals. Your mind must convince itself that you are in control of everything. When you say something like that it will become reality. It is your choice whether you believe it or not. Unfortunately, many people who are afraid of failure do not believe that they have any control over the future.
The third example of self-limiting beliefs is the belief that you are powerless to change anything. This type of self-sabotaging behaviors is related to the second self that was mentioned above. If you are unwilling to take chances in new situations, it becomes very hard to get what you want out of life. No matter how much good you do, you will never be successful unless you are willing to risk something and sometimes it can be very large.
Self-sabotaging behaviors are very common but they need to be corrected if you want to move forward. There is hope for changing self-sabotaging beliefs because you can train yourself to think differently. You can use programs designed to teach you how to switch your thinking from negative to positive. Once you are able to do this, you can make changes that will improve your life and make you happier and more successful.

The truth is that you cannot make your own decision on your own and things are always going to be up to you. When you start focusing on the belief that you are capable of doing whatever you put your mind to then you will start to see your life in a different way. The last example of self-limiting beliefs relates to the third category of negative beliefs that are related to self-esteem. If you are not happy with your appearance, you might blame your parents or others for not loving you enough. When you start believing that it is your fault, you will be prevented from making any progress towards changing your self-sabotaging behaviors.
