One of the most difficult questions to answer is how does one’s self-esteem affect their long-term health? The answer depends on the person, but in general there are some common threads that run through most if not all aspects of healthy self-esteem. These include a strong sense of who one is and what they are capable of, as well as the willingness to accept and embrace their uniqueness. People with a healthy sense of self have the willingness to take risks and try new things.
Self-esteem also depends on the ability to effectively communicate with others. A person’s words and actions affect how they are perceived. A person who believes that they are worthless will have a very hard time convincing someone else of this. They will also be more reluctant to try new things. If a person knows that they are valuable and capable of doing great things, they will have no problem sharing this belief with the world.
Another element that affects self-esteem is the level of security one feels in their present life. It can either be secure in their occupation or secure in themselves. When one’s security is threatened, it will cause them to examine their worth as an individual. If they feel worthy of being valuable, they will have no problem communicating this value to others. On the other hand, when their security is low they will do everything in their power to find a means of increasing their level of security. This will include pursuing an education, finding a better job, and even taking on financial risks.
One’s sense of humor also plays a vital role in how they perceive themselves. If they are able to crack a joke, they will feel much more at ease. People like to be funny, and they like to be themselves. If they can exhibit a sense of humor, they will find it much easier to make others laugh. People who know how to put people in their place to enjoy an aura of social stature which will affect their success greatly.
The way one communicates and their body language also has a great deal to do with their level of self-esteem. If they get angry, for example, they may lose all respect for themselves. By changing their behavior, however, they may be able to regain a bit of their respect. People who constantly put others down will begin to lose any self-confidence that they had. In order to keep their self-respect intact, they will need to work on communicating in a way that will make others take note of them and consider them to be a worthwhile person.
Another thing that will affect one’s self-esteem is the way that they look. For some people, having a great body will make them feel much more confident. However, if they don’t feel good about their body, their self-esteem will be lowered to the point where it will be difficult for them to accept any type of affection. If their self-esteem is dependent upon the way that they look, then they can end up being very unhappy and frustrated with their life because they feel inadequate. Instead, they should focus on making their appearance better in order to increase their self-esteem. Changing their clothing and spending time working out will make them feel better about themselves and may help them overcome some of the problems that they are having.
Another thing that affects self-esteem is how a person responds to stress. If someone becomes extremely stressed over something, it will have a strong effect on their self-esteem. If the person knows that they aren’t able to change things around, then they are likely to become even more stressed about it. If one knows that things will go no where, they might try to avoid things in order to make them turn up their noses at them. This can cause a great deal of damage to a person’s self-esteem and will probably have an effect on their ability to make any type of changes in their life.
Finally, there are some situations that will affect self-esteem. For example, if a person has a lot of social anxiety, then they will most likely have a low self-esteem. The only way to combat this problem is by trying to become more comfortable with social settings and making positive comments to others. If a person can figure out what causes them to be so anxious, they will be able to develop new ways in which they will be able to control their feelings and hopefully eliminate their social anxiety altogether. This is also a great way for them to improve their self-esteem because they will be developing skills that will help them in other areas in their life.
