Why We All Hold Self Limiting Beliefs

There is a simple way to free your mind and change your limiting beliefs: Recognize them for what they are. Here are eight self-limiting beliefs and how you can release them once and for all.

General Limiting Beliefs About Yourself: The first self-limiting beliefs are that you are not good enough, not pretty or smart enough, or don’t have the right skills to be successful. These beliefs are holding you back from being whatever it is you want to be. No one is going to care about what you have to say, or even care about how beautiful or handsome you are. Your belief about yourself is keeping you in a box and has absolutely no place in your life.

Change these negative thoughts with new beliefs: Instead of saying I am not good enough, change your thought process to I am beautiful, smart, and attractive. Replace the word “not” with an adjective that describes you, such as “amazingly beautiful”, or “amazingly talented.” Use language that you are comfortable using with. If you can say that you are outgoing, that will be more powerful than a statement that says, “I’m not so good at taking notes.” Changing your belief from a negative to a positive will shift your energy, spirit, and self-esteem in a big way.

Limiting beliefs about others: You might say that you don’t have friends because no one will like you or like the things that you do. Or, you might tell yourself that no one will like the way that you look. Self limiting beliefs like these can paralyze you into inaction, which means that you will feel like you are acting in ways that do not serve you. If you want to build a more loving and forgiving relationship with yourself and others, you need to learn new ways of looking at yourself and at those around you.

Your next step is to act on that emotion. By doing this, you will begin to work through your issue by finding other ways of dealing with the overwhelming emotion. There is nothing wrong with being someone who is “good enough.” However, it is important to be wise and realize that there are always better ways to approach life. By removing limiting beliefs you will allow yourself to live life to the fullest.
